Paying it forward – WebPlotDigitizer – determining graph plot points
The financial results season is upon us, and there is a marked increase in reporting around external influences. Companies are using diagrams, tables and graphs from many diverse sources to substantiate their message. Where diagrams and tables are relatively easy to recreate, graphs are more challenging. As sourced, they will not reflect the consistency, brand and style alignment of the company data graphs created in PowerPoint, and stick out like a sore thumb.
A fantastic work-around is a tool called WebPlotDigitizer where plotting points can be calculated, the source data brought into Excel and with some number manoeuvring an editable graph created. I have been using earlier versions of this tool for many years, and the latest version, either online or as a desktop version has many ease-of-use improvements.
